Which one of the following values is the most important to share with a young child(5-10 years old)?

1.Being helpful

2.Being honest

3.Being well organized

Nowadays, the education plays an important role in children's growth. For children, they should learn many characters through their growing, such as being helpful, being honest and being well organized. Thus, here comes a deBATe that which one is the most important value that parents should share to their children. Some prefer being honest, others in favor of being well organized. However, when it comes to me, I definitely choose to be helpful. Here are my reasons.

To begin with, being helpful can bring a sense of pleasure to children themselves. When children offer help to others, they would receive APPreciation which would transform a feeling that helping others is a valuable things. From that aspect, they would be more willing to offer their kindness when next time meet people who need assistance. For instance, my little brother likes helping other kids with their daily matters, like answering their math questions, assisting with their difficult tasks. At first, he was unwilling to offer help to others, for the reason that he thought helping others is not a worthy thing. Yet, one day, he occasionally helped one of his classmate to sweep the dirty floor, so that his classmate can go home early. From that day, they became best friends and that kid often show his thanks to my brother. Through this event, my brother begin to realize it is worthwhile to offer kindness because not only did other can address their problems but also did he can feel pleasant.

Secondly, we can seize more opportunities when being helpful. When we help others, they would remember this grateful behavior for a long time, even sometimes it is a very small action for us. As a consequence, if there are chances, they would remind us at first time. Let's say, once one of my partner get into a trouble that he can not finish his project on time due to the tough math question appeared in this project. When I heard this, I promise to help him without hesitation since I was taught by my mother from my childhood that helping others is the Chinese traditional virtue. What's more, I am major in math, in that case, dealing with this kind of problem would not be a trouble for me. No surprise, my partner solve this trouble quickly with my help. After several months, I need a chance to find a new job, just when I was anxious about how to get information about recently job market's need. What makes me feel surprising is that the partner recommend me to his friend' company without charging any fee. He showed that because of my kindness before, he was willing to do me a favor.

Admittedly, honest and well organized are also crucial in children’s life stage. If one child lacks honesty, others would lost their truth towards him. Besides, not being well organized would cause some indecent behaviors such like speaking loudly in public and throwing trash everywhere. Nevertheless, comparing to this two qualities, being helpful shows more benefits to children from various aspects.

In conclusion, there is no doubt that I am in favor of being helpful first among three options. For the reason that kindness would make us feel pleasant and would give us many unnoticeable chance as well.

Sample Answer: Childhood is the golden age of people’s lives because it is a time of physical growth and great leaps forward intellectually and socially. Being helpful, honest and well organized are values that parents and educators try to instill in children from a very young age, but I would argue that among these values, honesty would be the most important one to share with a young child. First and foremost, honesty is the cardinal principle of conducting oneself. Imparting honesty into children can hold them accountable for their behavior and teach them how to distinguish right from wrong from a young age. Unlike adults, children are normally unaware of the consequence of telling lies, and teaching them the value of honesty can help them realize how to act with integrity and confidence. For example, children who are conscious of being honest are more likely to contribute positively to the whole society in the future and will never defraud their clients and customers in workplace. In contrast, students who are dishonest may plagiarize other people’s thesis and fail to achieve success even though they perform well at school. Besides, being honest can help us win the trust and respect from others, even from those who are unfamiliar with us. It is widely known that childhood is an important period for children to learn lifelong social and emotional skills they need. Therefore, making them capable of being honest helps children learn how to behave in a more socially acceptable way. Just imagine, an honest child always gets along well with everyone at school, with a bunch of good friends around him. When he grows up, people are more willing to collaborate with him as well as to give him a hand when he gets into troubles. On the contrary, a dishonest child will be looked down upon by others and be regarded as a public enemy. Undeniably, being helpful and well organized are both important qualities, which do benefit children in their own way. The young generation can learn responsibility and find enjoyment in helping others. But the fact is, 5 to 10-year-old children are too young to be able to take care of themselves, not to speak of giving a hand to other people. As for the organizational skill, it just makes little sense since kids of that age are naturally active and naughty. Overemphasis on children’s organizational ability would have an adverse impact on their growth. If children are required to be well organized at any time, their creativity and imagination will be stifled. To sum up, I’m not saying that being helpful and well-organized are of no use, but compared to the importance of honesty, these two values can be crossed off the priority list. (456 words)
